Who also have 83 years of life expectancy? It is the Aussies! The home to kangaroo and Hugh “Wolverine” Jackman ranked 6th in the WHO’s list. The UN’s list has a different opinion. It puts Australia on 8th place with 82.1 years.
The interesting fact is that the majority of Aussies are immigrants. In fact, 25% of them were born in another country. So what makes these people from across the world end up having better life expectancy in Australia?
It is definitely not because of their eating lifestyle. In 2012, Australia was the world’s most obese country. Despite being a sport loving nation, it has 26% obesity rate.
Perhaps it is because of the fact that the majority of Aussies believe the country has a strong culture and identity characterized by being down to earth, “mate”-ship, honesty, sports, and multiculturalism.
