Which country has the highest life expectancy?

2. Spain

Still with 83 years of life expectancy is Spain as our runner up. As mentioned before, this list is based on the WHO list published in 2015. On the UN’s list, Spain is ranked 7th with 82.3 years.

What makes the Spaniard have the second highest life expectancy in the world? It is definitely not their drug-free life. In fact, Spain has the world’s highest cocaine consumption per capita (3.1% of the population in 2010).

Perhaps it is the Spaniard’s love and determination in sport. Spaniards have dominated a surprising number of sports since the early 2000’s. In motor sport, they have Fernando Alonso and Marc Marquez. In tennis, they have Rafael Nadal. In football, they have Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Spain is traditionally a strongly religious country. However, only 76% of Spaniards now identify themselves as Catholics, and only about 20% are regular church-goers.
