8Sukiyabashi Jiro, Tokyo, Japan – 1 month
Sukiyabashi Jiro is located in Tokyo and is owned by a chef who formerly worked at Yoshino and Sushi Mizutani.
All these restaurants are some of the best you’ll find in Tokyo and reservations are required months in advance.
This humble 3 Michelin-starred restaurant is owned and operated by sushi master Jiro Ono and it was the subject of David Gelb’s 2011 documentary film ‘Jiro Dreams of Sushi’.
Sukiyabashi Jiro accepts reservations only through a hotel’s concierge, and also you’ll need a guide or a friend who speaks Japanese to call the hotel to make the reservation on your behalf.
After that, you need to deliver about $200 to Jiro Ono himself to confirm the reservation.
