8. Tom Hanks – Vintage Typewriters
We might know Tom Hanks from his roles in films like Forrest Gump and Captain Phillips, but not many of you knew about his vintage typewriters collection.
Tom Hanks loves his collection of vintage typewriters that much he released an app.
This year, the Academy award-winning actor, released his first app called Hanx Writer.
The use of the app? Simple, it has been designed to realistically replicate the experience of writing on a typewriter, complete with clacking key sounds and a “ping” when you reach the end of a line.
Pretty cool, right? Now, let’s get back to the actual collection.
Tom owns over 300 vintage typewriters in his collection which feature an Olympia Model SM8 German typewriter from the 1960s, a World War II typing machine that he bought for just $45 and many others.
For the most part, pieces of his collection are fully functional, just like it happened with the WWII typewriter on which he spend three times more to fix it.
