He was born on January 28, 1940, in Mexico City from a familiy of Lebanese immigrants and he became a billionaire after the big economic crash in 1982 when he bought some proprieties and investments for really low prices and then sold them with big money.
In 2000 he founded a foundation to restore and save the important buildings named Foundation for the Historic Centre of Mexico City.
In the most part of his life (47 years), the billionaire Carlos Silm Helu created and made a successful company named: Grupo Carso.
He is now the world’s richest man for the fourth year in a row, thanks to surging stock prices at his financial arm, Grupo Financiero Inbursa, and at his Grupo Carso industrial and retail giant.
