8. BMW M1
The M1 is a hand-built sports car produced between the years 1978 and 1981 under the Motorsport division of the German company.
Initially the plan was to work together with the Italian manufacturer Lamborghini and try to build a car in a sufficient quantity for homologation.
But due to some conflicts that appeared, BMW decided to built the M1 themselves.
The M1 was the only mid-engine BMW to be produced, and it was put on market to be sold to the public from 1978 to 1981.
Featuring an engine with six separate throttle bodies, four valves per cylinder, and producing 273 hp, the BMW M1 could reach a top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph).
And that’s only the street version of it, because the racing version, the turbocharged model was capable of producing around 850 hp
