3. BMW Isetta 300
You didn’t saw this coming right? But it’s here, because Isetta is a part of BMWs history.
This is an Italian-designed microcar, and because of its shape it became known as the bubble car.
But that’s not all, the Isetta was the top selling one-cylinder car in the world, with 161,728 units being sold.
And because of the change in regulations at that time, the German company had to change their microcar a bit.
The engineers had to enlarge the single cylinder to a 72 mm bore and 73 mm stroke , raised the compression ratio from 6.8 to 7.0:1, and all of that made the power output to raise to an “incredible” 13hp.
But don’t worry, the maximum speed remained at 85 km/h (53 mph).
