5. Ford Explorer
Manufactured and sold by Ford since 1990, the Explorer model is a sport utility vehicle with the purpose to become one of the most popular vehicles of its type on the road.
The first generation of this model was released in May, 1990 for the 1991 model year, and the cars were equipped with the then new 155 hp 4.0 L Cologne V-6 engines.
The next generation suffered substantially interior/exterior upgrades, but the 4.0 L Cologne V-6 engine from its predecessor was still here.
By the year 2013 the Explorer would suffer changes after changes, until the Ford Explorer Sport was announced March 28, 2012 as an option for the 2013 model year.
The Sport version of the Explorer came fitted with an EcoBoost 3.5L Twin Turbo V6 engine with a power output of 365 hp.
