9.Hugh Howey – Wool Trilogy
The next self published author who wrote a best seller is Hugh Howey.
The American author is well known for his Wool series, which originally started as a short story. He expanded the story so much, that it turned into a trilogy.
Wool Trilogy focuses on a range of characters who live underground in silos because the outside world is toxic.
His original self published version was made out of 9 books, but after Howey signed a deal with Simon & Schuster, he distributed the books in 2 editions plus Dust, the conclusion to the series.
Howey turned down a seven figure deal in order that he retains e-book right to the books.
