The fifth fact you should know about Gabrielle Chanel is that she had a lucky number. No. 5 was, of course, her favorite number. That’s how she came up with the name for the legendary fragrance that made her famous back in the 1920s.
Not only she chose the name of her brand’s signature perfume, but also she picked up the date of Chanel’s first runway show by being influenced by the number. On 5th of February 1954, Coco Chanel held her first fashion show.
The models presented the clothes in silence in the eyes of the selected viewers and the designer was quietly watching from the show from the stairs.
Unfortunately, her collection was roughly criticized by the French press and Coco was tore apart.
