2. Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel, Iguazu Falls: the only hotel inside the national park
This colonial-style hotel opened in 1958 and is the only hotel inside Iguaçu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with direct access to Iguazu Falls. Michelin awards it three Keys.
It was renovated by its owners after a 2007 purchase, in a programme budgeted at US$20 million and completed in 2010.

Our take: the best-known address in Rio, with a history no newer hotel can match.
4. Palácio Tangará, São Paulo: a palace beside a Burle Marx park
Palácio Tangará opened in 2017 next to Burle Marx Park, in a neoclassical five-storey building with 141 rooms, including 59 suites. Oetker Collection operates it, and it holds two Michelin Keys.
