Chicago is one of the cities with the craziest nightlife in the world. Here you can find all sorts of clubs, dance clubs to swanky lounges.
Here, in the city of house music, all you need is to know where to start the party. But be prepared because parties don’t end until the morning.
These are Chicago’s hot spots:
10. Sound Bar
The ultra-hip, ultra-modern Sound-Bar is certainly the place to go for a wild night out.
Sound-bar is Chicago’s hottest upscale nightclub that revolutionizes Chicago nightlife by boasting style, luxury and state-of-the-art technology.
Showcasing 20,000 sq. feet of pure bliss, Sound-Bar’s European minimalist decor features flat screen monitors, laser lights, and floor-to-ceiling video projection walls that enable our clients to project audio-visual presentation throughout the club.
If you’re coming here, don’t expect to leave before morning! Luckily it’s located in an area where a cab won’t be hard to grab.
9. The Shrine
Intimately connected, yet decidedly independent, the pairing of The Shrine & Coup d’état represent one of the most dynamic nightlife and event spaces in Chicago.
As a hybrid venue, The Shrine & Coup d’état can be celebrated as one seamless experience or easily divided for more exclusive gatherings. An eclectic design motif creates a unique Africa-meets-James Bond experience, which is enhanced by cutting-edge sound and lighting systems.
If your dance music tastes veer towards R&B, hip-hop and Afro beat then you need to check out this South Loop/Motor Row venue. The dance floor here is always packed with guests bringing their A-game to match the tunes spun by the DJs.
8. Berlin
“Rolling Stone” magazine once named it “Best Dance Club” in Chicago for good reason.
An intimate joint with two bars, a small dance floor with a tiny stage and bass cabinets that double as platforms for drag queens, exotic dancers, or fetish shows that perform on occasion.
This freak-friendly dance destination in Lakeview built its reputation back in the mid-’80s with a mix of German new-wave music, art installations and even transvestite shows. These days, it’s still quirky but more retro, with Prince-tribute, disco and ’80s nostalgia nights.
Regardless of your sexual orientation, all are welcome on the dance floor, as has been the case for 30 years, and the scene picks up significantly here after midnight, when the 24-hour party people converge to dance until the morning light.
7. Smart Bar
As long as you’re wearing a shirt, shoes, and pants, anything goes at this laid-back Lakeview haven for deep-track techno/dubstep fans.
Originally on the fourth floor of the magnificent Wrigleyville building, this venerated dance club is now in the basement. A makeover in 2006 slicked up the looks a notch and brought back a vibrant young crowd.
The DJ spins a mix of techno, rave, funk, house and well, anything you can dance to. Expect an alternative mix of clientele.
Smart Bar hosts rock and dance fans alike allowing for award-winning co-mingling, co-rocking, and co-getting down. Just come ready to dance the night away.
6. Beauty Bar
This hair salon-meets-dance bar slings do-themed cocktails, like the Perm and the Platinum Blonde, along with some raucous beats.
Its interior came from an immaculate late sixties shop, Paris Salon of Beauty, in Springfield, New Jersey. With the help of local partners Mode Carpentry the space was transformed into a luxurious, swanky time capsule of big hair, pink nails and dry martinis.
Retrofitted into the old Sonotheque, the bar carried over the sound system but otherwise got a complete face-lift. Sparkling glitter paint adorns the walls, ’60s beauty salon furniture acts as seating, and the backroom dance floor is completed with a shimmering disco ball. ‘The music stays obscure and mostly dusty during the week, but DJs turn it into an electro dance party most weekends.
