3Freni e Frizioni
Freni e Frizioni is perhaps one of the most happening places in all of Trastevere.
Unlikely ex-garage surroundings – the name means ‘brakes and clutches’ – for Rome’s hippest early evening spot, frequented by arty types and a creative, student crowd.
The place gets jumping from 7pm onwards and features a mixed crowd of shabby chic bohemians, locals, tourists and American college students.
A grand buffet is laid out on a snowy white tablecloth decorated with armfuls of long-stemmed roses and candles. The riverside square outside becomes an extension of the place, filling up with the overspill of chatting drinkers.
