Ozone, on the 118th floor of the Ritz-Carlton in Hong Kong, is still the best rooftop bar in the world for height, and Rock Bar in Bali wins for drama. We checked the status of every venue from the original 10 in 2026, dropped the ones that have closed, and kept the ones still pouring.
The first edition of this list ran as a Top 10. In 2026, two of those ten (1-Altitude at One Raffles Place and the Press Lounge in New York) no longer exist in the form we described, so this is a Top 9 with a note on what closed.

The 9 best rooftop bars
1. OZONE, Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong
Ozone sits on the 118th floor of the International Commerce Centre, inside the Ritz-Carlton, and it is routinely described as one of the highest bars in the world. You change lifts in the hotel lobby, then ride a dedicated elevator to an open-air terrace, a long marble bar and a small sushi counter. The signature drink is the Hong Kong Skyline. Hours listed by hotel booking sites run from early evening to 1 am on weeknights, so check before you go.
2. Sirocco and Sky Bar, Bangkok
The open-air Sirocco restaurant and Sky Bar sit on the upper floors of the State Tower in Bangkok (sources disagree on whether that is the 63rd or 64th floor), and the venue has been trading since 2003. Listings put the hours at roughly 6 pm to midnight daily. The design team was led by Scott Whittaker of Design Worldwide Partnership. Expect a dress code and queues at sunset.
3. Upstairs at the Kimberly, New York City
A 30th-floor lounge at 145 East 50th Street in Midtown East, reached by a dedicated express elevator, with the Chrysler Building as the main exhibit. The room has leather chairs and retractable glass walls and ceilings, and runs a weekend brunch. Reviews from spring 2026 praise the views and grumble about slow service. Cocktails were listed at around $16 in one guide, so expect that or more.
4. Iris at the Gherkin, London
On levels 39 and 40 of 30 St Mary Axe, the Gherkin, the old private members’ club became the public restaurant Helix and bar Iris in 2018. Iris is the top-floor bar, reached by a granite staircase from Helix, with 360-degree views over the City. It is also a hire venue: exclusive use of both floors was listed at £11,000 plus VAT, with a £12,000 plus VAT minimum spend for evenings. We could not confirm any membership scheme, which the older version of this article described.
5. Rock Bar, AYANA Resort, Bali
Rock Bar sits on a rock outcrop over the Indian Ocean, at the foot of the resort’s cliffs. Older descriptions give a height of about 14 metres above the water, though we could not reconfirm that figure. The booking page splits the day into a sunset session (4 to 5 pm) and an evening session from 7:30 pm. Non-resort guests face a minimum spend per person (IDR 423,500 net for the tapas table in one version of the page). Singlets, swimwear and backpacks are not allowed, and weather can close it without notice.
6. Radio Rooftop, ME London
Radio is on the 10th floor of ME London, facing the Shard, St Paul’s, Tate Modern and the London Eye. A 2026 travel guide describes it as reopened after a multimillion-pound renovation, and diners were reviewing it in May 2026. Hours listed by a tourism site are noon to midnight Sunday to Wednesday and noon to 1:30 am Thursday to Saturday. Bookings are recommended, not required.
7. Rooftop at The London West Hollywood
The hotel’s rooftop on the 10th floor has a heated pool, cabanas, a fire pit and the West Deck dining area. The Gordon Ramsay restaurant that made the hotel famous in the 2000s is now listed as closed, and Ramsay sold the restaurant to the hotel’s owner in 2009. We found no sign the rooftop itself has closed. Treat this as the party-pool pick, and check current access rules since it is a hotel venue.
8. 1-Altitude Coast, Sentosa, Singapore
The original 1-Altitude closed on 31 March 2022 after 12 years at the top of One Raffles Place, where it had ranked as one of Singapore’s famous high-rise bars. The brand reopened on 5 September 2022 as 1-Altitude Coast, on top of The Outpost Hotel on Sentosa, working as both a day club and a bar. It is a beach-club mood rather than the old skyline show.
9. Luna Rooftop, Rosewood San Miguel de Allende
The top-floor tapas bar at the Rosewood in San Miguel de Allende looks across the town’s rooftops to the La Parroquia church. The menu is Mediterranean-inspired, from tapas to pizza and tacos, and the cocktail of the day usually involves a margarita. The terrace is open-air with shaded areas. It is the sunset pick on this list.
Which rooftop bars from the original list have closed?
The Press Lounge, atop the Ink48 Hotel in Manhattan, closed permanently on 1 February 2024, according to its owner. The original 1-Altitude in Singapore closed on 31 March 2022 and lives on as 1-Altitude Coast on Sentosa. That is why the list now has nine entries, not ten.
