11. His own version of generosity
While some other billionaires, like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, have pledged their way to give most of their wealth to charity when they die, Carlos is not interested. People like Gates, Buffett, and Zuckerberg believe that it is better for their descendants to learn to live on their own instead of inheriting their wealth. Carlos disagrees.
He has been publicly open about his opinion on this billionaire’s Giving Pledge. He thinks that they shouldn’t just give but help resolve the economics problems. And he does it by providing more than 200,000 Mexicans a job for a better life.
As mentioned before, Carlos is sharing his money-making empire with his family. Most of the top guys on his companies are his own family. And they will surely inherit his abundant wealth someday.
Even so, we cannot count Carlos out when it comes to being generous. He does have his own charity foundations. Fundación Carlos Slim Helú was established in 1986. Through this foundation, Carlos has given around $4 billion for charity.
