Born and raised in South Africa, Charlie became a United States citizen in 2007. Her current financial status is around $110 million.

She started a nonprofit organization, The Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, in 2007, with the goal of helping the youth in Africa stay safe from AIDS. One year later, Charlize was named the United Nations Messenger of Peace.
She is a member of PETA, and is also involved in several organizations for women’s rights.
