What is Chanel au Ritz Paris?
The famous luxury house Chanel chose the Ritz for its first spa because the two have a shared history. Coco Chanel lived at the Ritz for 34 years, according to the brand, and the hotel stands on the Place Vendôme, where the shape of the Chanel No. 5 bottle reportedly echoes the arrangement of the buildings.
Chanel announced the project in 2015, before the hotel reopened. Its statement at the time:

The Ritz renovation
The hotel closed on August 1, 2012, its first closure in its history. The reopening slipped from late 2015 to March 2016, a fire broke out on the roof on January 19, 2016, and it finally reopened on June 6, 2016. Chanel’s new Coco Chanel suite is part of the reopened hotel, and a suite of about 155 square meters is described as where she lived for some 35 years.
Fashion shows had been a Ritz tradition: the basement pool hosted many runway shows between 1990 and 2004, including Gianni Versace’s last runway show in 1997. Donatella Versace said in April 2012:
“It is with tremendous emotion that I return to the Ritz where I shared so many special moments with my brother,”
“The closing of the Ritz Paris for two years represents the end of an era but also the beginning of a new one, so to be able to show Atelier Versace there one last time will be a memorable milestone,” she said.
The spa today
Reports describe a customised programme that starts with a detailed consultation, then a plan blending Eastern and Western massage techniques, plus facials and a make-up lounge.
