6.Casu Marzu
This product is originally from Italy and it is actually rotten cheese with maggots..
The Casu Marzu is illegal throughout most of Italy and many wouldn’t even touch it. But that doesn’t represent an impediment to the curious ones!
If you ever decide eating Casu Marzu is a great idea let us tell you how it’s made: Cheese from sheep’s milk is left to ferment and then it is introduced to a certain type of fly which lays its eggs on the cheese.
The idea of the whole thing is that the maggots soften the cheese in order to make it consumable but.. the maggots must be eaten along with the cheese to avoid toxicity.
