4Titanic – $200 million
You have been waiting for this movie. Released in 1997, the American film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, grossed $2 billion in ticket sales.
And director James Cameron produced many of the costliest films ever produced, such as ‘Terminator 2’, ‘Avatar’, ‘True Lies’ and so on. With a budget of $200 million, ‘Titanic’ was the most expensive film ever made at that time.
Nobody knows exactly with how much ‘Titanic’ went over-budget, but the director ensure us it was a lot more than ‘Terminator 2’, which exceeded its budget by about 8%.
Story line: ‘A seventeen-year-old aristocrat, expecting to be married to a rich claimant by her mother, falls in love with a kind but poor artist aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic.’
