Most Expensive Tag Heuer Watches | Top 10

The most expensive TAG Heuer ever sold is Steve McQueen’s Heuer Monaco from the film Le Mans, which fetched $2.208 million at Phillips in New York in December 2020; the priciest watch you can buy new from the brand is the Carrera Plasma Tourbillon Nanograph, listed at $376,000 when it launched in 2022. Below are the seven most expensive TAG Heuer watches we can put a number on as of October 2026, mixing one auction record with launch and list prices. Entry-level models start around $1,850, so the gap to the top is steep.

Rank Watch Price Date Basis
1 Steve McQueen’s Heuer Monaco (Le Mans) $2,208,000 Dec 2020 Phillips auction
2 Carrera Plasma Tourbillon Nanograph $376,000 2022 Launch price
3 Monaco V4 Tourbillon CHF 150,000 2014 Launch price
4 Carrera Split-Seconds Chronograph CHF 110,000 June 2026 List price
5 Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon (200 pieces) €35,250 Current List price
6 Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon (50 pieces) €24,850 2024 Launch price
7 Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Polychrome (150 pieces) £19,950 Launch List price

1. Steve McQueen’s Heuer Monaco: $2,208,000

McQueen wore a square-cased, blue-dialed Monaco while filming Le Mans, and the watch made the model famous. He gave this one to his set mechanic, Haig Alltounian. It went to an online bidder at Phillips’ Racing Pulse sale in December 2020 after a seven-minute bidding war. The hammer was $1.8 million, and $2.208 million with buyer’s premium. Before that, the last Le Mans-used Monaco to reach auction had made $800,000 in 2012.

The figure is the all-in price with premium, and it remains the highest ever paid for a Heuer. We found no later sale that beat it.

2. Carrera Plasma Tourbillon Nanograph: $376,000

This is the brand’s showpiece. The 44 mm case is sandblasted black aluminium set with 48 lab-grown diamonds, the crown is a single diamond, and the dial is a plate of polycrystalline diamond. Inside is the Heuer 02 Nanograph tourbillon calibre, a COSC-certified chronometer with a 65-hour power reserve and a carbon hairspring. The $376,000 price comes from the 2022 launch coverage. One 2026 brand profile quotes about $346,000, so treat the number as a range from $346,000 to $376,000.

3. Monaco V4 Tourbillon: CHF 150,000

Shown at Baselworld in 2014, the V4 swaps gears for belts to drive its movement, and the tourbillon version was priced at 150,000 Swiss francs. Production was tiny; one report says only about ten were made. Of everything here it is the strangest mechanism, which is probably why it still draws a premium.

4. Carrera Split-Seconds Chronograph: CHF 110,000

Announced in January 2026 and available from June 2026, this 42 mm grade 5 titanium watch uses the TH81-01 calibre, which beats at 5 Hz for tenth-of-a-second timing and keeps 65 hours in reserve. A third pusher at nine o’clock operates the split-seconds hand. It is not a limited edition, and the CHF 110,000 price excludes taxes.

5. Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon, 200 pieces: €35,250

One of the brand’s limited-edition tourbillon chronographs, this one with a smoked purple dial, lists at €35,250 on TAG Heuer’s own site and is strictly limited to 200 pieces. It sits well above the rest of the Carrera range but is an order of magnitude cheaper than the top two.

6. Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon, 50 pieces: €24,850

The white-dial version was reported at €24,850 in a run of 50, with sales planned for July 2024. The dial and edition size differ from entry 5, and the concept does not.

7. Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Polychrome: £19,950

The rainbow-treated Polychrome came in an edition of 150 at £19,950. It is the cheapest of the three tourbillon Carreras here, and a fair gauge of the entry price for a limited tourbillon.

Records and new releases in 2025 and 2026

The big 2026 news is the Carrera Split-Seconds Chronograph, which opens a new six-figure tier for the Carrera name at CHF 110,000. We found no TAG Heuer auction that beat the 2020 McQueen result.

Two older headline pieces fall outside the ranked list for lack of confirmed prices: the Mikrogirder 2000, a 2012 watch that measures 1/2,000 of a second, and a one-off Monaco Split-Seconds made for the Only Watch charity auction, which was estimated at CHF 150,000 to 300,000 and reportedly sold for CHF 110,000 in a single listing we could not confirm.

What drives these prices

  • Film provenance beats complexity. A 1970 watch worn by McQueen outsold the most elaborate tourbillon by a factor of six.
  • Complications set the retail ceiling. Tourbillons and split-seconds mechanisms account for every list price above €20,000.
  • Small editions hold the premium. Runs of 50 to 200 pieces keep the tourbillon Carreras scarce.
  • Gem-setting pushes price further. The Plasma adds lab-grown diamonds to a tourbillon and lands above everything else.
