9. San Francisco
San Francisco is one of the major US cities that started a plan for a greener life and with the help of it’s leaders became one of the greenest cities in the world.
Wanting to do mother nature a benefit the city banned plastic bags in 2007, and save the earth from 100 million bags that where supposed to be thrown in the land.
The city was declared America’s solar energy leader, and it started an recycling program that managed to save and recycle an impressive amount of waste, almost 77% of all the materials that supposed to end up in the land.
The San Francisco city supports the green life among it’s citizens and has also a big variety of parks, the 220 parks from the city having to fulfill the need of vegetation for the 840.ooo+ population.
