Sometimes spelled El Azizia, this city is  the capital of the Jafara district in northwestern Libya.

In 1922, on September 13, the highest temperature of 136 degrees Fahrenheit was recorded in ‘Aziziya.
That’s the equivalent to 57.8 degrees Celsius.

It was considered the highest temperature ever measured on Earth.

That record stood for 90 years.
