How to dress for an interview | Advice for HIM
As we mentioned in the article How to dress for an interview | Advice for HER , a job interview is your opportunity to impress the potential employer, and to impress him, you have to make a good first impression.
And for making a good first impression, you need to dress properly. Dress to impress!
So let’s get started!
– A suit
A suit is the most important thing a man should take in consideration when going to a job interview. A proper suit can be the key of your success. Invest more money in a good suit, and you’ll feel like a lawyer from the TV show ‘Suits’. It’s recommendable that the costume should be or navy, or dark gray. Avoid the double-breasted suits. A 2-button style is more classic. And make sure your suit is neat before you leave the house.
– Long sleeve shirt
White is always a good choice. For you first interview, it’s better if you would wear a white shirt. Again, make sure the shirt is neat. And no blends.
– A tie
Neat pattern, with a small dot or classic stripes, the tie is very important. Avoid the ties that are overly bright. I hope you figured out that a bow tie is out of the quoestion. You’re not going to a weeding.
– Shoes
A black pair of shoes is what you need to complete your professional look. And wear ONLY black socks. How funny do you think you’ll be if you wear a presentable suit, and your Naruto socks are are in sight?
– Professional hairstyle
Don’t wear a hairstyle that’s more like the ones of Taft Schwarzkopf commercials. You’ re not going to a parade. And you’d better not use a lot of hairgel. Aslo, if you’re a beard lover, you may have to give up on that for a while. A hairstyle like the one Brad Pitt has will do the trick.
– Accessories
Better no accessories than cheap accessories. So, if you really want to wear one, make sure you invest money in something with hight quality. Still, don’t forget you’re in a suit, so a sport watch will do you no good. Go more for the classic style.
– Perfume
Just spray a little on the wrists.
– Confidence
This is the second best thing a man can wear, after a suit. Be confident! Your potential employer will notice that!
