This rural locality located along the Indigirka River is one of the most isolated places on Earth, and one of the coldest.
The lowest temperature was registered in 1933 by the Russian scientist Sergey Obrychev: -90 degrees Fahrenheit, the equivalent to -67.7 degrees Celsius.
And with these conditions, it is understandable that Oymyakon has few residents, 472 to be more specific.
