The largest hotel in the world in 2026 is First World Hotel in Genting Highlands, Malaysia, with 7,351 rooms. Second comes the Venetian and Palazzo in Las Vegas at roughly 7,100 rooms. This list ranks the ten biggest hotels we could confirm by room count.
Las Vegas dominates the list, but the top spot sits on a mountain resort an hour from Kuala Lumpur, and a Moscow hotel built for the 1980 Olympics is still the biggest in Europe.

What are the 10 biggest hotels in the world?
1. First World Hotel, Genting Highlands, Malaysia: 7,351 rooms
First World Hotel is a 3-star property at Resorts World Genting, run by a Genting Group subsidiary. It first took the title in 2006 with 6,118 rooms in two towers, then regained it in 2015 after opening Tower 2 Annex with 1,233 rooms.
It connects to the SkyAvenue mall and the Awana Skyway station, so guests can stay inside the resort complex for days.
2. The Venetian and The Palazzo: about 7,100 rooms
The Venetian opened with 3,036 suites in a Venice theme. The Palazzo, next door, adds more than 3,000 rooms, and as one property the pair ranked as the world’s largest hotel before First World Hotel took the title in 2015.
3. Izmailovo Hotel, Moscow, Russia: about 5,000 rooms
Izmailovo was planned for the 1980 Summer Olympics and was the largest hotel in the world until 1993. It has four buildings named Alpha, Beta, Vega and Gamma-Delta, and it remains the largest hotel in Europe. We lowered the room count from the 7,500 we published earlier because current references give about 5,000.
4. MGM Grand Las Vegas, USA: 4,762 rooms
MGM Grand opened in December 1993 with 5,005 rooms and was the world’s largest hotel at the time. Today it is the largest single hotel building in the United States, with 4,762 rooms.
5. Wynn Las Vegas and Encore, USA: 4,748 rooms
Wynn Las Vegas opened in April 2005 with 2,716 rooms, and sister tower Encore followed in December 2008. Together the complex has 4,748 hotel rooms.
6. Luxor Las Vegas, USA: 4,407 rooms
Luxor opened with 2,526 rooms, all inside its pyramid, and now has 4,407. It is owned by Vici Properties and operated by MGM Resorts, and its pyramid holds the world’s largest atrium by volume.
7. Mandalay Bay and W Las Vegas, USA: 4,326 rooms
Mandalay Bay has 3,209 rooms, and the second tower, once THEhotel and renamed W Las Vegas in 2024, adds 1,117 suites. The Four Seasons sits on floors 35 to 39 of the main tower and is managed separately, so we did not add it twice.
8. Ambassador City Jomtien, Pattaya, Thailand: over 4,000 rooms
This beach resort opened in 1988 as three buildings and grew into a 40-acre campus with several wings. Its own materials say “over 4,000 rooms”, so we use that wording instead of an exact count.
9. Excalibur: 3,981 rooms
Excalibur opened with 4,032 rooms and was the world’s largest hotel until the MGM Grand opened across the street in 1993. It now has 3,981 rooms across four 28-story towers.
10. Fontainebleau Las Vegas: 3,644 rooms
Fontainebleau is the newest entrant. Its 67-story tower stands 737 feet tall and, after the December 2023 opening, brought the count to 3,644 rooms. Resorts World Las Vegas, with 3,506 rooms, just misses the cut.
What dropped off the list?
- Disney’s All-Star Resorts: removed because they are a cluster of separate resort hotels, not one hotel.
- Abraj Kudai, Mecca: planned at 10,000 rooms, stalled in 2015 and unopened as of 2023.
- The Londoner Macao: its Sheraton towers cut from about 4,000 rooms to 2,405 after the 2024 rebuild.

FAQ
What is the largest hotel in the world in 2026?
First World Hotel in Genting Highlands, Malaysia, with 7,351 rooms across three towers. It has held the Guinness World Records title for the most rooms since 2015.
What is the largest hotel in the United States?
The Venetian and Palazzo complex in Las Vegas, with about 7,100 rooms when counted as one property. The largest single hotel building is MGM Grand Las Vegas, with 4,762 rooms.
Is Izmailovo still the biggest hotel in the world?
No. It was the largest hotel in the world from 1980 to 1993 and is now the largest in Europe, with about 5,000 rooms in four buildings. Our earlier edition gave 7,500.
Why is Abraj Kudai not on the list?
The 10,000-room Abraj Kudai in Mecca was planned as the world’s largest hotel but construction stalled in 2015, and it had not opened to the public as of 2023.
Which large hotel changed the most since our last list?
The Londoner Macao. Its two Sheraton towers closed in 2024 and were rebuilt as suites, cutting about 4,000 rooms to 2,405 rooms, so it no longer competes for the top 10.
How do you count rooms in a hotel complex?
We count rooms that are sold under one operated property or one linked resort complex. Separate towers with different brands are noted. Room counts shift after renovations, so we give the figure with its source year in mind.
How we put this list together
We ranked by published room count, using hotel and operator information and encyclopedia entries that cite filings and company data. Where a hotel gives a rounded figure, we show it as rounded.
