Luxury Travel: A Trip to Machu Picchu

What if this year we leave all the common European travel destinations behind and go for something more special? Let’s try some Luxury travel: A trip to Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca site located on a mountain ridge, 2,430 meters above sea level. It is situated above The Sacred Valley of the Incas in the Andes of Peru, close to the Inca capital of Cusco.

Although the archaeological discovery of Machu Picchu came nearly a hundred years ago, historians are still lured by its mystery. Most of them believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti(1438–1472), but there are also theories that say that it was the original birthplace of the Incan “Virgins of the Suns” or that it was a sacred religious city. Putting everything together, it is best to say that Machu Picchu formed a cosmological, hydrological, and sacred geographical center for a vast region.

How to get there?

First you need to get to Lima, capital of Peru and from there you have to fly to Cuzco, the nearest city to Machu Picchu.  From Cuzco all you have to do is take one of the luxury trains to Machu Picchu:
