4. Payment per Fight

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao bout put boxing as the world’s top sport events cash prize per player. Mayweather took home $100 million paycheck for dancing around inside the ring for twelve rounds before he finally won by unanimous decision. And that excludes bonuses and endorsements from that one single fight.

McGregor is paid around $3 million per fight. But he also gets pay-per-view shares. For his rematch card against Nate Diaz, McGregor bagged around $15 million from paycheck and pay-per-view.

Landslide, Mayweather won this round with a paycheck ten times McGregor’s. The fact that it was one of the greatest fights for decades did help boost that paycheck a lot.

Here is an interesting fact though. Mayweather got that paycheck for twelve rounds of three-minute fight. While McGregor fought only for five rounds of five-minute. Besides, most of McGregor’s fights only last for a few minutes, even seconds. So, if we count this round on average per second for all of their fights, McGregor would have won it.
