Managed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Aoyama Cemetery is famous for its cherry blossoms, which makes it one of the world’s most beautiful cemeteries.
And everybody visit the cemetery at the season of hanami.
Located in Aoyama, Minato, Japan, the cemetery was originally the land of the Aoyama family of the Gujo clan.
With an area of 263.564 square meters, Aoyama Cemetery is Japan’s first public cemetery, featuring Japanese sections for many notable Japanese people (Nakae Chomin, Nogi Maresuke, Shiga Naoya, Nishi Takeichi, Sasaki Takayuki).
Also, the cemetery has a ‘foreign cemetery’ where several important foreigners like Joseph Heco, Paul Jacoulet, William Clark Eastlake and Guido Verbeck were buried.
