N4. Elizabeth Taylor, 1970 — auctioned for $167,500
We end up on the 4th place, with another old but sophisticated creation wore by actress Elizabeth Taylor at the 1970 Academy Awards.
Another design by Edith Head, it was auctioned off in 1999 for a close to $200,000. The designer had the pleasure to create dresses like this for some of the most famous actresses ever.
The periwinkle and violent chiffon dress was specially designed for Elizabeth because the designer thought that it will pop her violet-colored eyes.
The matching of the dress to the eyes was accentuated further with violet eye shadow, and Taylor completed the outfit with a sixty-nine carat diamond necklace which was a present from her husband, Richard Burton.
