The 10 Most Expensive American Cars Ever Sold
What do we have here? These are the 10 most expensive American cars ever sold! Are you excited?
The symbols of American automotive are gathered in this list of the world’s priciest American cars.
These cars have managed to become America’s proud, one of the things America is so happy about, one of the things they’ve done right.
It is true; some of the most expensive auctioned cars in the world are Ferraries.
And none of the American cars can really compare with the Italian sport car maker and I might say that the list might get pretty boring.
But America has some good pieces too, so don’t worry about that.
From legendary race cars to symbols of America automotive, to super-luxury rides of the 1930s, and even the original Batmobile, the list has it all.
When you think about it, the value of these American cars begins to make sense.
But enough with it, let’s get started and meet the most valuable American cars ever sold!
10. 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 – $3,850,000
We begin our top with the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88, because any list with American cars wouldn’t be complete without this car.
This particular model was able to sell for $3.85 million at Barrett-Jackson in Arizona, in Januray 2014.
The model sold there was a rare model known to be underrated by GM at 430 horsepower.
The name, L88 in particular is an order code translated to 427-cubic-inch, big-block V8 power, with a thirst for 103-octane fuel and an output rating of more than 500 horsepower.
Only 20 models were produced of the 1967 Chevy Corvette L88, and of those twenty, only one was red.
Built for the racetrack, the L88 was for purists only. Neither a radio nor a heater was part of the package.
