7. How to Train Your Dragon – $165 Million

This animated movie was inspired and based off the book How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell. Released in 2010 the 3D computer animated film was a big success on box office.

Made DreamWorks earn $500 million worldwide after its release. This is quite exciting, because the costs of making it were estimated for $165 million. DreamWorks must be so proud of their baby.

Because of the earnings they decided to release a TV series and a video game with the same name. Plus, it has a sequel which was already released (today) in the United States.
