3. Monsters University – $200 Million
The prequel to the highly popular Monsters Inc., Monsters University costs were estimated around $200 million to make.
It wasn’t a big success like others animated movies with similar stories, but managed to earn $743 million worldwide and became the third highest-grossing Pixar movie.
To be as real as it gets, producers spent several weeks in a fraternity houses and on college campuses. They were there to observe student life, architecture, and Greek organizations in order to make the college experience on screen more authentic.
