#1. George Washington’s Acts of Congress: $9.8 Million
The most expensive autograph in the world was given by George Washington making one of the most valuable pieces of literature in American history.
It is called Acts of Congress and it was George Washington’s personal copy of the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the First Congress.
His signature can be found on the first page. In 2012, Sotheby got the book for action, and was bought immediately by Ann Bookout for $9.8million. The bidding just went for five minutes, before she bit the big money.
Bookout, who serves as a Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association Regent of the Board, place the book in the president’s library where it belongs.
