6) Richard Gere’s Guitar Collection -$936,438
The guitar lover, Richard Gere decided to put his vintage collection in an auction at Christie’s, which is located in New York.
He began collecting them since he was young, but in 2011 he decided is time to sell. All 107 items gained so much attention at the auction house and ended up raising $936,438; all the proceeds were donated to charity.
Gere stated that he started collecting them without even thinking about making a collection. He basically bought what he liked and what sounded good.
The centerpiece of the auction and the most valuable guitar was a Les Paul electric Guitar by Gibson, which went for $98,500.
Only four guitars remained unsold, giving the actor a chance to still enjoy his old times.
