3. 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa –$39.8 million
On 4 february 2014, the Testa Rossa sold for $39.8 million setting a record for the most expensive car sold publicly.
If you ask us, the price is fitting for such a historic car.
As the Ferrari 250 LM, the 1957 Ferrari Testa Rosa was a GT race car that ran in many popular contests of speed, including The 24 Hours of Le Mans
With a 3-liter, 300-horsepower, V-12 engine with an 8,000 rpm redline ( which is pretty impressive for a car from the 50’s by the way) the Testa Rossa managed to win four of the six races in the Ferrari’s 3rd consecutive World Sports Car Championship for Constructors. The one behind the wheel in that legendary year was Phil Hill.
With the help of Ferrari’s own words to simply describe the performance of the racing miracle:
“Not only is the performance breathtaking, but the view over the bonnet when driving is simply one of the best in the world.”
Finally a Bugatti! no.2! ->
