The 173-year-old camera was brought to light from an attic and it managed to stun everyone being estimated at $978,000.
It was produced in 1839 in Paris by a company named Susse Frères and it is believed to be the world’s oldest camera to go on auction.
The camera is a precious example of the daguerreotype process and it features an oval stamp signed by its inventor,Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre.
The wooden sliding box camera is today on exhibit at Westlicht in Vienna, Austria.
