The most expensive floating hotel stay in the world is The Muraka, the underwater villa at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, reported at roughly $12,000 to $18,000 a night, with one source claiming $50,000. Strictly floating hotels are rare and many of the famous ones are overwater, underwater or aquarium-view rooms, so this list covers all four kinds and labels each. Prices are as published or reported in 2025 and 2026, and nightly rates change by date, so treat every figure as a guide.
| Rank | Hotel | Where | Type | Reported nightly price (USD) |

| 10 | Dragon Inn Floating Resort | Semporna, Malaysia | Floating resort (per its name) | About $50 to $70 |
1. The Muraka, Conrad Maldives: about $12,000 to $18,000 a night
The Muraka has a bedroom about 16 feet below the surface of the Indian Ocean. It opened in 2018, and it is the reason the Conrad appears on every list of costly hotel rooms. Published rates disagree: one luxury travel guide quotes from $11,900 a night, a review puts it at about $18,000, and a lone guide says $50,000. We treat the $50,000 as an outlier and use the lower range. Seaplane transfers and dinner at the underwater restaurant are billed separately.
2. Neptune and Poseidon Underwater Suites, Atlantis The Palm: $8,200 to $10,500
These Dubai suites look straight into the Ambassador Lagoon aquarium, so the neighbours are rays and sharks. They have been open since 2008. Strictly speaking, they are not in the sea, but they make the list because the nightly price is the second highest we found. The range comes from a single guide.
3. The Floating Seahorse: $2,800 to $5,000
A multi-level villa afloat in the lagoon of the World Islands off Dubai, with a bedroom below the waterline. The rate is listed at $3,500 in one place and $2,800 to $5,000 in another, so we give the range.
4. Jules’ Undersea Lodge: $1,350 to $2,600
A habitat 21 feet down in a lagoon at Key Largo, Florida, which guests reach by scuba diving. It dates from the 1980s as a hotel. Rates in the guide we used run from $1,350 to $2,600 depending on how the booking is counted. It is the oldest property here, and guests get there by diving.
5. The Manta Resort Underwater Room: $1,500 to $2,500
A three-storey structure anchored off Pemba Island in Tanzania, with a bedroom roughly four meters under water. It opened around 2013. The range is from the same single guide as the Seahorse, and we did not find a booking-site rate to compare it to.
6. King Pacific Lodge: about $1,970 per person per night
This lodge sits on a floating barge in the Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia and relocates to St. Johns Harbour in the summer. The lodge’s own page lists a fully guided 4-day, 3-night package at CAD $8,195 per person, before taxes, for 2027. That is about CAD $2,730 per person per night, or about US$1,970 at a rate of roughly 0.72 (our conversion). Air transport, meals, a spa and fishing or wildlife excursions are included, so it is the only price on this list that buys more than a room.
7. Ocean Suites, Resorts World Sentosa: about $1,800
Suites overlooking the S.E.A. Aquarium on Sentosa Island, open since 2012. Like the Atlantis rooms, they are aquarium views, not sea. The $1,800 is a guide figure.
8. Conrad Maldives water villas: about $717 to $2,472
The ordinary rooms at the same resort as the Muraka. Booking-site snapshots from July 2026 show standard rooms from about $717 to $935 and premier rooms near $2,472. They are over the water, not on it.
9. Punta Caracol Acqua Lodge: about $122 to $265
A lodge built over the water off Isla Colon in Bocas del Toro, Panama. Booking snapshots show $122 to $156 a night and one guide shows $165 to $265 for two. Guests report extra charges for breakfast and no air conditioning. It is the best-value way to sleep over the sea on this list.
10. Dragon Inn Floating Resort: about $50 to $70
A budget resort at Semporna in Sabah, Malaysia. Third-party booking sites list it at about $50 to $70 a night. We included it as the cheap end of the range, and we could not verify how it is built beyond its name.
Records set in 2025 and 2026
We found no new record nightly rate. The change is in publication: King Pacific Lodge has posted its 2027 package prices, and booking sites show July 2026 rates for the Conrad Maldives.
What drives these prices
- Glass and engineering. A bedroom under the sea needs thick acrylic and a lot of structure, which is the Muraka’s whole case.
- Remote logistics. King Pacific Lodge needs seaplanes and a barge, so the package includes the flights.
- Scarcity. There are only a handful of floating rooms in the world.
- Spillover from the resort. The Muraka’s rate lifts the Conrad’s other villas by association.
