2.Yubari King Melons — $26.000 a pair
One of Japan’s costliest food is the Yubari King Melon.
This orangey melon is similar to cantaloupes, its size being rounder and bigger and with a sweeter taste thanks to the soil it grows on.
Most often these melons are sold in pair, and presented as gifts during Chugen, a Japanese annual event where people give gifts to their superiors and acquaintances.
The Yubari King Melons usually cost between $60 and $150, the best ones reaching $200. But what is most surprising is that a pair is known to being sold at the whooping price of $26.000.
Well, that is something, for sure.
