Number 5. Pineapples Pit – $1.600
These are special pineapples which are grown under straw, horse urine and manure. Its expensiveness is due to the special procedure and high production costs.
But it doesn’t look different than any other pineapple. And if you were considering slicing it up to make a fruit salad, you’d be well advised to think twice because of the horse urine and manure.
The pineapple was nurtured over two years using traditional Victorian gardening techniques at the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the botanical attraction in Cornwall.
The gardens have grown pineapples the same way since the 19th century when they used to rent them out to wealthy Victorian families as a dinner table decoration.
Apart from being the most expensive pineapples in the world, they also happen to be one of the most expensive fruits.
