Number 2. Densuke Watermelon- $6,100
This is one of the most unique and one of the most expensive fruits. Its uniqueness is given by its very distinctive look – all black and lacking striped make the Densuke watermelon one of a kind.
In 2008 a 17-pounder was sold at an auction for $6,100 and that’s how the watermelon got its 10th place on our list.
It is known that black watermelons are rare items, especially the Densuke variety. Those kinds of watermelons are only grown in the island of Hokkaido in Japan.
What makes it more loveable is the special type of sweetness which is just incomparable.
Grown only in Japan’s northernmost island, Hokkaido and only 100 Densuke are farmed each year.
