#3 Painite – $50.000 – $60.000 per carat
This rare borate gemstone has a natural hexagon shape. The first Painite stone was discovered in 1950, in Burma, by the British gemologist Arthur Pain. And it was named after him.
And only 2 examples existed for a long time. After 2002, more Painite gemstones have been discovered in Burma, and also, in Myanmar.
Only of few of these gemstones are privately owned.
The rest can be found in the British Museum of Natural History, California Institute of Technology, Gemological Institure of America and the GRS Gem Research Laboratory, located in Lucerne, Switzerland.
