2. DoubleClick: $3.1 billion
The second most expensive Google acquisition is an online advertising platform company which was originally founded in 1995, and soon gained a reputation for surviving the dot com bubble.
Both Microsoft and Google had a fight over DoubleClick, making the deal quite brutal.
DoubleClick’s clients include agencies, marketers and publishers who serve customers, such as Microsoft, General Motors, etc.
By purchasing the company, Google has gained the right to use the company’s advertising technology and also the right to use their networks and implicit, their clients.
Among DoubleClick’s clients, America Online and MySpace pop up. By winning the deal over Microsoft, Google’s revenue has grown.
