Most Expensive Items of Marilyn Monroe’s Memorabilia

#3- Happy Birthday Mr. President Gown: $1.27 Million

If you don’t know about this event I’ll make a quick introduction.

It happened on President John F. Kennedy’s 45th birthday when Marilyn went to the legendary stage at Madison Square Garden where she sang “Happy Birthday Mr. President” wearing a dashing sexy dress.

Looks have been changed between Marilyn and the President, and immediately rumors began to circulate.

Yes, they were “together”. They met in 1959 at Palm Springs, when artist Frank Sinatra invited some friends to spend a short holiday with him.

They were both recovering from failed relationships, and the inevitable just happened.

Now let’s go back to the dress. The dress became perhaps the most significant dress in human’s history.

It had backless back, tight curves, created by John Louis especially for the occasion. The gown was sold by Christie’s in 1999 for $1.27 million.
