And the most expensive movie poster in the world 2016 is from Metropolis, the “international” version of the Metropolis poster to be more specific, which sold for $690,000.
It has the same Heinz Schulz-Neudamm design as number three minus the German writing.
The clean lines and delicate shading make this a wonder to behold. Sold for almost 700,000 at the Austrian National Library in Vienna in 2005, the poster’s owner is believed to be the actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
Only three other copies of the poster are known to have survived to the current day—one in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, another in a private collection and a second copy in the Austrian National Library.
