2. Marco Polo – $90Million/ Season
This American drama series inspired by Marco Polo’s early years in the court of Kublai Khan, the Khagan of the Mongolian Empire and the founder of the Yuan dynasty (1271 – 1368), in Khanbaliq (today Beijing).
With its premiere on Netflix on Decemeber 12, 2014, the series was written and created by John Fusco.
It has stars like Lorenzo Richelmy in the title role and Benedict Wong as Kublai Khan.
The series is produced by The Weinstein Company, and Netflix gave it another season this January.
For approximately $90 million for a 10-episode season, Netflix has picked up the series from those who didn’t wanted and turned it into a big success.
