3.San Alfonso del Mar – $2 billion
Our next pool is located in Chile, in Algarrbo.
Costing around $2 billion, the San Alfonso del Mar was inaugurated in the year 2007 and built by Crystal Lagoons. Having 1.3 km in length and 20 acres in area, the pool uses filtered water from the ocean.
San Alfonso del Mar is large enough to sail a boat in, and is approximately 6000 times larger than an usual swimming pool. In 2008 it was named the largest swimming pool in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records.
It took 5 years for the pool to be completed, and the builders, Crystal Lagoons, didn’t stop here. Read the whole article to find out what their next project was!
