Ok, I admit I was a little hypocrite before when I said I was surprised to see such an old movie reach this list. Actually, I’m not at all surprised to see this movie in particular among the most expensive screenplays ever sold.
I’m sure you’re familiar and also in love with the 1992 movie, Basic Instinct, the neo-noir and erotic thriller film starring Michael Douglas and Sharone Stone.
Joe Eszterhas is the famous man who wrote the controversial script for Basic Instinct and it brought him a little fortune: 3 million dollars!
It was worth it because the movie was a tremendous succes. With a budget of 49 million dollars, the movie was a huge box office hit and reached the total earnings of about $352 million!
