9-Apollo 11 Patch – $85,400
With all the fuss around the moon landing back in 1969, when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrine became the first men to land on the moon, people have forgotten about another important thing.
The important thing I am talking about that even the President John F. Kennedy forgot about was a man named Michael Collins.
How is the name Michael Collins connected with the moon landing and why is this so important?
Because while Armstrong and Aldrin were on the moon, Michael Collins was in the command spacecraft piloting it alone while in lunar orbit.
A patch that belonged to Collins among with the signatures of all three astronauts was sold in 2010 for a total of $85,400 at Bonhams auction.
