8The Jenkins Venus – $11.7 million
This stone statue, also known as the Barberini Venus or Weddell Venus, is a copy from the Aphrodite of Cnidus, but still, it looks great.
The original status was one of the most famous artworks of the ancient Greek sculptor, Praxiteles.
In 2002, the Jenkis Venus fetched almost $12 million on Christie’s, London. And at that time, the sale broke the world auction record for an antiquity sale.
Although the buyer was anonymous, rumors said that he was the avid art collector and cousin of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed Al Thani.
