6John Gotti

Born on October 27, 1940, John Joseph Gotti Jr. was an American mobster who rose to prominence, becoming a protege of Gambino family underboss, Aniello Dellacroce.

Later, he became the boss of the Gambino crime family.

In 1998, Gotti was diagnosed with throat cancer and was sent to the US Medical Center for Federal Prisoners, located in Springfield.

The tumor was removed, but 2 years later the cancer returned and Gotti was again transferred to Sprinfield, spending the rest of his life there.
Eventually, he died at the age of 61, on June 10, 2002.

As of 1990, he already was a prominent mobster, becoming an inspiration for the character Joey Zasa, in ‘The Godfather Part III’.

Also, John Gotti has been portrayed in other movies, like 1994 ‘Getting Gotti’, 1996 ‘Gotti’, 1998 ‘Witness to the Mob’, 2001 ‘Boss of Bosses’, 2010 ‘Sinatra Club’ and a biographical film ‘Gotti: in the shadow of my father’, with John Travolta as Gotti.
